Central Islip man charged with murder, arson for triple homicide

HAUPPAUGE - Hasan Vaughan of Central Islip pleaded not guilty in Suffolk County court, Thursday, to a five count indictment charging him with the murders of three people last August.

Homicide and arson squad detectives determined the three victims found dead in a back room of the house at 47 Hickory Street in Central Islip were murdered, and the fire was intentionally set.

Vaughan, 33, is charged with one count of murder in the first degree, three counts of murder in the second degree and one count of second degree arson.  Found dead were Mykier Daniels, 31 who lived in the Hickory Street house, her sister Katrice Daniels, 28, of Wyandanch and Louis Calixto, 19, of Central Islip.

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said said the evidence shows Mykier Daniels was shot, stabbed and strangled, Katrice Daniels was shot, and Louis Calixto was shot and stabbed.

Vaughan remains held without bail.

Vaughan’s codefendant, Thomas Singletary of Central Islip pleaded not guilty last week to one count of arson in the second degree.  Singletary, 33, is in the Suffolk County jail in lieu of one million dollars cash bail.
