Speed, weather, factors in upstate fatal

SARDINIA -  State Troopers report snow covered roads and speed not reasonable and prudent for the conditions as likely factors which led to a motor vehicle accident which claimed the life of a Delevan man Friday evening.

Erik Goodheart, 26, was traveling north on SR-16 in the Town of Sardinia about 6 Friday night, when he lost control of his pickup truck and slid into the oncoming lane. Goodheart’s pickup was then struck broadside by a US Mail delivery truck.

The force of the collision broke Goodheart’s  vehicle into two sections and resulted in Goodheart being ejected. He died, later, at a local hospital.

The driver of the mail truck was treated for minor injuries.
