Long Island man charged with traveling upstate to rape minor |

LEVITTOWN - Fahad Sultan, aka Nicholas Sultan, 23, of, Levittown, was arrested at his residence and charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree, a class E felony, two counts of Rape in the Third Degree, also a class E felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor. The arrests were the result of an investigation into a series of events in which Sultan communicated with the victim, a Tupper Lake, resident who is less than 17 years old, via Internet chat and cell phone conversations. During these conversations, Sultan agreed to travel to Tupper Lake to meet with the victim. Sultan then traveled to Tupper Lake and committed the offenses over the course of two days, returning to his home on Long Island. After the victim reported the incidents, the Tupper Lake Village Police Department, assisted by the New York State Police Computer Crime Unit (CCU) - Northern Region, investigated, gathering digital and other evidence. CCU Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for Sultan’s residence, vehicle, computer and cell phone in search of additional evidence related to the crimes. The Levittown, Long Island search and arrest were executed by the Southern Region CCU assisted by uniformed Troopers. Members of the Tupper Lake Police Department met the NYSP Southern Computer Crime Unit (CCU) detail in Albany, and transported Sultan to Tupper Lake. Upon arrival, Sultan was processed and arraigned in the Village of Tupper Lake Court. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond and the suspect was remanded to Franklin County Jail in Malone. |
