SMITHTOWN – Suffolk County Police are investigating the hit-and-run death of an 11-year-old girl, Tuesday evening, in Smithtown. 

Courtney Sipes was crossing East Main Street, near Lawrence Avenue, on foot, when she was struck by a white pickup truck or SUV, traveling west on East Main.  The vehicle left the scene.

Sipes died later at a local hospital.
