Suffolk attorney arraigned on second indictment alleging mortgage fraud

HAUPPAUGE - A Dix Hills attorney, arrested for his involvement in a mortgage fraud ring four months ago, pleaded not guilty to additional grand larceny and forgery charges this morning at his arraignment on a grand jury indictment in Suffolk County court Riverhead.

Brandon Lisi is charged with two counts of second degree grand larceny and one count of forgery in the second degree.

Lisi, 35, successfully bid on foreclosed houses in the Town of Huntington at foreclosure auctions in 2007.

According to the indictment, Lisi used the name and credit of straw buyers to submit applications to two lenders, Indy Mac Federal Bank and Countrywide Home Loans, to secure mortgages to buy the homes at 2 Arista Court in Dix Hills and 1 Shelby Court in Elwood.

Lisi was charged last summer with fraud and grand larceny charges for using a straw buyer to purchase property on Main Street in Cold Spring Harbor.   The forgery charge in today’s indictment alleges Lisi forged a signature on a document to secure a mortgage for the Cold Spring Harbor property.
