Syracuse nurse arrested for stealing narcotics from hospital

SYRACUSE - The New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement - Syracuse, assisted by the New York State Police in Elbridge, arrested Merribeth Lewis, 49, of Syracuse, NY for the following:

  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree (Class "B" Felony)
  • 8 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 4th degree   (Class "C" Felony) 
  • 9 counts of falsifying business records in the 1st degree (Class "E" Felony).

During September 2009, Lewis, a registered professional nurse at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, unlawfully obtained narcotics while working at the hospital.

Lewis was arraigned at Onondaga Town Court and ordered to appear at the Onondaga County Probation Department's Pre-Trial Release Program on October 29.
