Alleged burglar charged with violent stabbing

HAUPPAUGE - A former Patchogue resident plead not guilty today in Suffolk first district court to charges he stabbed a Ronkonkoma man during a burglary last month.  Mark Callahan, 37, who told police he is a resident of Utica, is charged with second degree attempted murder and first degree burglary.

The victim, Roger Monteforte, 68, of 30 Matice Place, Ronkonkoma, was stabbed multiple times by an intruder at approximately 1:30 on the morning of September 25.
