ESDC board approves grants leveraging over $54 million in private investments

ALBANY - Empire State Development Corporation’s Board of Directors approved grants totaling more than $9 million, pledging to retain 900 existing jobs and create over 300 new jobs in New York State.  The grants will leverage more than $54 million in private investments across the State.

A Restore New York Communities Initiative grant was authorized by the ESDC Board. The Restore New York program is targeted toward the revitalization of urban areas and the stabilization of neighborhoods as a means to attract residents and businesses.

City of Schenectady - $2,500,000 (Schenectady County).The grant will be used toward the renovation and modernization of an existing office, retail and recreation complex downtown. 

The following was awarded an Upstate Regional Blueprint loan by the Upstate Empire State Development Corporation:  Crucible Industries LLC - $2,670,000 (Onondaga County)

The following were awarded Economic Development Fund grants:

  • Goulds Pumps, Inc. - $1,350,000 (Seneca County)
  • City of Binghamton - $670,000 (Broome County)
  • Irving Tissue, Inc. - $600,000 (Washington County)
  • Roundabout Theatre Company - $250,000 (New York County)
  • Caddell Dry Dock & Repair Co. – $3,895,500 (Richmond County)
  • Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation
  • Moynihan Station Civic and Land Use Improvement Project

Additionally, ESD will increase the existing amount of its contract with Jerome Haims Realty, Inc. for Farley/USPS valuation services from $156,400 to $256,400 and increase the amount of its contract with Bryan Cave LLP for environmental legal services from $4.5 million to $5.4 million.
