Two passengers dead in one-vehicle crash

HERKIMER - State Police in are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred October 11, at about 2:26AM. 

Matthew Lewis, 22, from State Route 28 in Eagle Bay, was an SUV north on State Route 28 in the Town of Webb with two passengers  -
 
Lewis lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the shoulder of the road.  The vehicle struck an earth embankment,  severed a National Grid utility pole and  overturned several times.  During the collision all of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle.  Passengers Matthew Girouard, 22, of Thendura, and Craig Sears, 24, from Eagle Bay, were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Lewis was air lifted to Upstate medical Center in Syracuse for non life threatening injuries. 

The investigation continues by State Police in Herkimer and the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit in Oneida.
