Albany County testing a safer, more environmentally friendly asphalt on County Route 152

ALBANY – Albany County Wednesday paved a 1.7 mile section of County Route 152 (Old Niskayuna Road) in the Town of Colonie with a warm mix asphalt.

The technology has been proven to cut fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions during production as well as reduce emissions during the paving process, making a safer environment for workers and neighborhoods.

The warm mix asphalt can be mixed and applied as temperatures 50 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the conventional hot mix, resulting in more environmental and health benefits.
