Cattaraugus County sheriff commits suicide
TOWN OF COLD SPRING – Cattaraugus County Sheriff Dennis John committed suicide Tuesday by shooting himself in the head, State Police said.
John’s body found in the Town of Cold Spring at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on Sunfish Run Road.
The cause of death appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing, but it does not appear that any foul play was involved, police said.
