Spota, joined by Suffolk County Executive Steven Levy, Police Commissioner Richard Dormer, Major Walter Heesch, commander of Troop L, NY State Police, Sheriff Vincent DeMarco, and DEA Assistant-Agent-In-Charge Joseph Evans, said the execution of 11 search warrants resulted in the seizure of four thousand bags of heroin with a street value of $400,000 were seized along with felony amounts of oxycodone, vicodin, xanax and methadone. While the task force’s mission was to focus on street sales of heroin, detectives developed information that resulted in the arrest of a large supplier of heroin, Alex Vavas of 84 Pine Hill Road in Port Jefferson. |
