MELVILLE – Police say a woman with a handgun got away with an undisclosed among of money following an early morning robbery at the Madison National Bank b ranch at 859 Walt Whitman Road in Melville. 

The woman entered the bank at 8:38 a.m., pointed the gun at a teller and demanded money.  She then pointed the weapon t other employees and told the not to notify police.  She fled on foot, heading south on Walt Whitman Road.

There were no other customers in the bank, and no injuries.

The suspect is a white female, 20 to 30 years old, about 5’7”, thin to medium build, with light skin, light-colored eyes and reddish-brown hair.  She may have a birthmark on the right side of her face.  She was wearing jeans, a dark colored sweatshirt with “Virginia” on front, and a Mets baseball cap.
