New Yorkers reminded: Private use of fireworks is illegal anywhere, anytime |

ALBANY – The Department of health reminds everyone that the best way … and safest way … to enjoy fireworks is to watch a professional display. The private use of any kind of fireworks, including sparklers, is illegal anywhere in new York State. In 2007, there were 92 injuries in the state, requiring hospital treatment. Youth under age 15 account for 21 percent of all fireworks-related hospital visits. “Celebrate Independence Day safely at a public fireworks display and leave the lighting to the professionals”, said Health Commissioner Richard Daines. |
