NEW YORK – A Bronx man faxes up to four years in prison for allegedly directing a fraudulent scheme to obtain subsidized apartments for unqualified tenants. 

Amadou “Bebe” Lamoudi, 39, allegedly filed false applications with the New York City Housing Development Corporation.  The crimes occurred between August 2007 and March 2008.

According to an indictment announced by Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, Lamoudi, who was living in an HDC-sponsored apartment, orchestrated a scheme by which he would charge ineligible applicants a fee in exchange for helping them structure a successful application.  Typically, he would instruct applications to falsify certain information, including earnings.  That would often be followed by a complex scheme including false documents, false pay stubs and fals income tax returns. 

Lamoudi would charge his clients $1,000 or more for his ‘services’.
