Albany deputy fire chief succumbs to cancer

ALBANY – Deputy Fire Chief Davig Tidings, a 21-year veteran of the Albany Fire Department, passed away recently, after a courageous battle with cancer.

The passing was noted by Mayor David Jennings and Chief Robert Forezzi Sr.

Tidings was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief in January 2008.  He was a second generation firefighter with the department, following the footsteps of his father, James “Tiger” Tidings.  Davd’s brother, John, is an active member of the department.

“We are all grateful to the invaluable service Dave gave to the City of Albany, first as a firefighter and paramedic and later in his role as a Deputy Chief”, said Jennings.

Chief Forezzi said “Dave’s professionalism and his dedication to the Albany Fire Department and the citizens of Albany will be sorely missed”.
