Former Syracuse soccer coach charged with sexual abuse

ONONDAGA – State Police at Elbridge have arrested a Syracuse man on a total of 18 charges including on disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree, a felony, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual abuse in the third degree.

The arrest of James Riverso, 28, a former Syracuse soccer coach, stemmed from an investigation into sexually explicit messages and photos being send from Riverso’s cell phone to the victims over several months. He is accused of having a physical relationship with the teenage girls. The investigation was initiated after several victims came forward to state police.

Riverso was arraigned and released. He was also charged in the City of Syracuse with some of the charges, troopers said.
