Gang member sentenced to 35-to-life

RIVERHEAD - A Bloods street gang member was sentenced Tuesday to 35 years to life in prison for the 2007 murder of a Huntington Station man during a robbery.

James McArthur, 22, of Tuckahoe Court, Melville, pulled a gun on Alexander Diaz around 3 a.m. on the morning of July 15, 2007 on First Avenue in Huntington Station.    When Diaz’ uncle, Sebastian Bonilla-Euceda interceded, McArthur shot him once in the chest.  Bonilla-Euceda, 32, died at Huntington hospital 12 hours later.

After a weeklong trial last month in Suffolk County court, a jury convicted McArthur of second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
