Training provider fair for laid-off BorgWarner employees |
||||
ITHACA – The Tompkins Workforce New York will cosponsor a training provider fair, Wednesday, to assist local BorgWarner employees affected by recent layoffs. This event targets more than 500 individuals eligible for training due to their approval for federal Trade Act benefits. The provider fair, to be held at Tompkins Cortland Community Colleges Athletic Facility at their main campus in Dryden, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Wednesday, is sponsored by the Tompkins and Cayuga/Cortland Workforce Investment Boards and their One Stop Centers. More than 25 training providers will be on hand including local community colleges, BOCES and proprietary schools. In addition, financial aid and admissions staff will be available to answer questions on financial aid and admissions processes. All separated employees from Borg Warner are invited to attend. “This is an excellent opportunity for people to invest in their skills through accessing training funds available as a result of the approval by the US Department of Labor of the Trade Act petition for laid off BorgWarner employees,” notes Tompkins County Workforce Investment Board Director Julia Mattick. “This event is designed to assist people with making career and training decisions, and we have an abundance of quality training opportunities and tuition benefits available to individuals.” For more information, contact the Tompkins Workforce Investment Board at 607-274-7526 or the Cayuga/Cortland Workforce Investment Board at 607-753-5201. |
