AUBURN - Auburn Police Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Perrine Street Tuesday morning on the report of a man breaking into a residence and assaulting one of the residents. When police got there, the suspect who was identified by the victim as Christopher Titus, had reportedly fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. The victim, a 36-year-old male was suffering from a laceration to his head which he sustained after he was reportedly struck with a chair by Titus. The victim was later treated at Auburn Police Headquarters by Auburn Fire personnel and was expected to go to Auburn Memorial Hospital for further treatment of his injuries. Auburn Police patrol officers eventually located Titus at the Wilson Farms store on State St. and took him into custody. Titus was arrested for several felonies regarding the Perrine Street incident as well as for an outstanding Auburn City Court arrest warrant. The Auburn Police Department’s Detective Bureau furthered the investigation into Tuesday’s incident and determined that Titus allegedly forced his way into the Perrine Street home where his ex-girlfriend lives with their two children. She shares the home with her father and her new boyfriend whom Titus assaulted after breaking into the home. The children and their mother were home at the time of the incident but were in another part of the house sleeping during the incident. Titus was arraigned in Auburn City Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
