Binghamton tree planting programs announced |
||||
BINGHAMTON – The City of Binghamton has encouraged residents to apply to the 2009 Yard Tree Coupon Program and the 2009 Street Tree Program. Both programs are now open to eligible applicants. Developed last year by the Shade Tree Commission, the tree coupon program provides $35 coupons for property owners to purchase trees that will be planted on their property. Applicants are asked to complete the required form and return it to the Department of Planning, Housing, & Community Development (PHCD), which administers the program. Forms are available at PHCD in City Hall, in the Broome County Library, and on the city’s website. Residents interested in having trees planted in the utility strip in front of their property are encouraged to apply to the Street Tree Program. Applicants are asked to complete the Tree Request Form, and return it to the Parks Department, which administers this program. Forms are available at the Parks Department in City Hall, and on the City’s website. For more information, please contact the Parks Department at (607) 772-7017 or parks@cityofbinghamton.com. |
