Suffolk County exec files revised layoff measure |
||||
HAUPPAUGE – Suffolk County Executive Steven Levy said Monday that he has removed several contentious health department positions from a resolution which seeks to implement 347 layoffs unless $30 million in concessions from the county’s collective bargaining units can be gained. The amended resolution, which removes four of five health sanitarian positions in food inspection and one hydro-geologist position from the cut list, also removes 16 correction officer positions, to reflect the fact that Levy and the Suffolk County Correction Officers Association reached an agreement late last week on that unit’s proportional share of concessions. The resolution will be eligible for a vote in the Legislature’s Budget and Finance Committee Tuesday at 10 a.m. |
