Fatal fire in Waterville

WATERVILLE – Authorities continue to investigate a fire late Monday afternoon in which a 56-year-old woman died.

State Police at Waterville responded to a fully involved structure fire at 172 North Stafford Avenue in the Village of Waterville in Oneida County.  Volunteer firefighters from the Waterville Fire Department responded, entered the two family residences, and located Linda Moser, an occupant of the downstairs apartment dead inside the residence.

The upstairs occupants, Mark Anderson along with his wife, Maria Anderson and six-month-old grandson were able to escape the fire with the assistance of the fire department.

All three family members were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for evaluation and released.  The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

State Police Forensic Identification Unit is continuing their investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.
