Fatal I-86 accident remains under investigation

HINSDALE - State Police in Olean continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 86 in the Town of Hinsdale on Thursday night. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-86 when it lost control on the icy roadway. The vehicle left the south side of the roadway overturning several times before coming to rest on its roof in several feet of water.

The driver, Thomas Toy, Jr., 59, of Williamsville was pronounced dead at the scene by Cattaraugus County Coroner, Bradley Spink.

Toy was the only occupant in the vehicle. The investigation is still pending at this time, troopers said.
