WTC site construction forces lane shifts

NEW YORK - The northbound traffic lanes on West Street between Liberty and Vesey streets will be reconfigured beginning early tomorrow morning to accommodate ongoing construction at the World Trade Center site.

Northbound traffic will be shifted to the east onto a new bridge that borders the site.  The shift will allow continued progress on the East-West Connector, an underground passageway that will link the World Trade Center Transportation Hub to the World Financial Center.

The shift will be done between 12:01 a.m. and 4 a.m. to minimize any traffic impacts through the area.

The reconfiguration of the traffic lanes is the result of coordination between the Port Authority, New York State Department of Transportation, and New York City Department of Transportation all working together to advance Lower Manhattan construction.
