Recipients of Albany City arts grants announced

ALBANY – Mayor Gerald Jennings Friday announced the recipients of the 2009 City Arts Grants.

Thirty-five organizations will receive a total of $350,000 from the city and the Albany Local Development Corporation.

All of the organizations receiving grants are required by the city to provide at least one performance, free of charge, at an event for the City of Albany’s school children, elderly or disadvantaged.

“These organizations are vital to our city’s overall cultural and economic vibrancy, and I am pleased that, in collaboration with the Albany Local Development Corporation, we are able to continue our financial commitment to them,” said Jennings.
