Albany man sentenced for pointing gun at cop

ALBANY - Daniel Clinksales, 21, of Albany, was sentenced to 13 years in prison and five years parole.

On May 21, 2008 at 9:38 a.m., Clinksales and Qoya Jones attempted to enter a home and steal property and money from the residents. Officers responded to the scene and the two pointed a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun at the officers. Jones and Clinkscales were taken into custody and the gun recovered.

Clinkscales was found guilty after jury trial in September of two counts of Attempted Burglary in the First Degree, a Class “C” Violent Felony and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Violent Felony in front of the Honorable Thomas Breslin.

In September, Jones, 20, of Albany, pled guilty to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Felony and on November 13, 2008, Jones was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years probation.
