New supermarket coming to Buffalo |

BUFFALO — Mayor Byron Brown Tuesday announced that PriceRite Supermarkets, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wakefern Food Corporation, will put a new store in the former Latina’s location at 238 Elmwood Avenue. “For years this high profile spot has been vacant, and now, thanks to the city’s hard work, PriceRite is coming in to this location to serve the residents of the neighborhood,” said Mayor Brown. “It has been the goal of my administration to develop our neighborhood commercial strips and this project brings new life to a strip that has suffered a loss in recent years. PriceRite saw this location as a great opportunity and I am excited to see the company come into the Buffalo market.” PriceRite is headquartered in Wethersfield, CT, and has been in operation since 1995. The company has stores in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. This is the company’s first Buffalo location. The store is expected to be open in early spring 2009. |
