Bizarre circumstances lead to pedestrian death

HUNTINGTON STATION – Suffolk County Police have arrested a Hauppauge man after he was involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash while driving under the influence of drugs.

Christopher Martinez, 19, was driving a car on Route 25 in Huntington at 3 a.m. Saturday when a pedestrian ran out in front of his car. He was unable to stop and struck the man, identified as Timothy Broderick, 42, of Huntington. Broderick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation revealed Broderick was being chased by a motorist driving a pickup truck until the victim was struck by Martinez. The pickup truck fed the scene after the crash.

Martinez was later charged with operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs.
