Man surrenders in shooting of youth

CENTRAL ISLIP – Suffolk County Police have arrested Michael Coffey, 20, of 802 Taylor Avenue in East Patchogue for the April 14 shooting of Jeffrey Langhorn, an 11-year-old boy, who was shot in the face.

Coffey surrendered to police on Wednesday and was charged with first-degree assault.

Langhorn was shot and sustained a possible spinal injury when a gunshot went through the rear of the house he was in striking him while inside.

After the incident, he was listed in critical condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center.
