Two fatal accidents on Long Island

SUFFOLK COUNTY – Two fatal accidents occurred in Suffolk County over the weekend.

On Friday, May 30 shortly before 3 p.m., police said a 1999 Ford was traveling on Whiskey Road when the car was struck head-on by a 2008 Nissan.

The driver of the ford, Robert Kelly, 74, of Ridge, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife, Mary, was transported to a hospital listed in critical condition. The driver of the other car, Jennifer Jorgenson, 28, of Miller Place, was pregnant. She was transported to the hospital where she delivered a baby girl. She was listed in serious but stable condition. The baby is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in stable condition.

In the other accident, on Saturday before 2 a.m., a car driven by Christopher Atamian, 47, of Lindenhurst, lost control of his car and struck a telephone pole while driving a 2007 Mercedes on Montauk Highway in Copiague. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An eyewitness told police she saw car driving erratically and at a high rate of speed.
