Man convicted for killing common-law wife

BROOKLYN - Clifford Damon, was convicted of murdering  his common-law wife and stabbing another man who lived in the same Flatbush apartment.

The jury deliberated for one day before convicting Damon of Murder in the Second Degree and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. When he is sentenced June 10, Damon could receive a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison.

On March 12, 2004, Damon, 46, stabbed his common-law wife, Donna Gomes, numerous times, in the hallway of their building, killing her. He then returned to their apartment, entered the room of their housemate, Courtney Gaskin, and stabbed him several times.
