MEDFORD – Suffolk County Police have arrested a Riverhead man involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash after he fled police.

Police said the collision occurred after a man, identified as John Licausi, 48, of Riverhead, fled from police and was chased in his SUV. He sped through an intersection and crashed into another vehicle, driven by Scott Foster, 46, of Manorville.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Licausi was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, reckless endangerment in the first degree, unlawful fleeing police officer in a motor vehicle, and second-degree assault.
