Broome County Legislature recognizes ‘green’ organizations |

BINGHAMTON - The Broome County Legislature has awarded 20 organizations that have displayed exemplary leadership and have instituted creative environmental programs that go above and beyond the mandated regulations. After the nomination period was announced on April 3rd, organizations were nominated by the community web-based forum, and also by Members of the Legislature. Legislative Intern Jason Kaplowitz, supervised by Third Deputy Clerk of the Legislature Jennifer Royer, then conducted a survey of each local business and organization by a phone interview. The Broome County Legislature recognized each honoree with an official proclamation signed by The Chairman of the Broome County Legislature Mark Whalen, and the Legislator of the District in which the Business or Organization is located. The recognition took place Thursday at the beginning of the Legislative Session in honor of Earth Day. The following businesses and organizations received Legislative Proclamations for their “green” business practices:
