Grants to help institutions comply with Berger Commission mandates

File may take time to start streaming on slower Internet connections

ALBANY – Three nursing homes and a hospital will share in $12.6 million awarded by the state to help the institutions comply with the mandates of the Commission of Health Care facilities in the 21st Century, also known as the Berger Commission.

The grants will provide $4.9 million for Lakeside Nursing home in Tompkins County, $1.9 million to be shared by The Avenue and The Dutch Manor Nursing Homes in Schenectady County, and $5.8 million for New York Westchester Square Medical Center in the Bronx.

The grants are the latest to be approved by the state Health Department and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York from total funding of up to $550 million.
