Upstate libraries to receive federal money |

ALBANY - Assemblywoman Janet Duprey (R,I,C-Peru) Friday announced that four local libraries will be receiving grant funding to aid them in the paying for construction projects at their facilities. These funds are provided by a special $14 million 2007 legislative appropriation for construction and renovation of public libraries and library systems in New York State. The Clinton Essex Franklin Library System will be receiving $32,225 for the reconstruction of existing space and the purchase of new equipment. The Plattsburgh Public Library is being awarded $10,383 for the replacement of an air conditioning condenser and structural repair of the front steps. The Chateaugay Memorial Library is receiving $48,175 for reconstruction of the interior and exterior of the newly purchased building and the purchase of furniture for the new space. Finally, the Saranac Lake Free Library is being awarded $40,004 for the reconstruction of the community room to create accessibility and security and the renovation of the existing kitchenette. |
