Upstate man guilty of child abuse |

Albany - District Attorney P. David Soares Thursday announced that Adam Wright, 22, of Berne, NY was found guilty after a jury trial of one count of Assault in the Second Degree, one count of Aggravated Assault upon a person less than 11 years old, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He faces up to seven years in prison when sentenced on March 27, 2008. On May 7, 2007, sometime before midnight, at 1638 Helderberg Trail, in the Towne of Berne, Wright intentionally caused physical injury to a person less than seven years old, consisting of a left orbital fracture and or closed fracture of the facial bones and/or conjuctival hemorrhage and/or contusion of eyelid and periocular area and/or contusion of face, scalp, neck and /or contusion of back and contusion of unspecified part of upper limb and /or contusion of unspecified part of lower limb and /or substantial pain by means of punching and/or striking and/or pushing the victim. A Wright also failed to refuse or exercise reasonable diligence to prevent the victim from becoming an abused or neglected child. He was previously convicted of Assault in the Third Degree in Berne Town Court on July 11, 2006. |
