Former NYPD officer sentenced for narcotics trafficking

New York – Former NYPD cop Jose Torrado has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for participating in a drug trafficking conspiracy.

Torrado,32 helped his brother, Edwin Torrado, distribute large quantities of cocaine and marijuana in the New York City metropolitan area.

Edwin Torrado pled guilty to similar charges in 2006. He was arrested in September 2005 along with several other defendants when Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs agents seized some 135 kilograms of cocaine that were hidden in a false wall of a truck in the Bronx.
