Albany – Two men were sentenced Tuesday in US District Court in Albany on federal charges dealing with marijuana and money laundering.

Lawrence Mitchell, 37, of Cornwall, Ontario, and Vincent Mitchell, 31, of Hogansburg, NY, were sentenced, Lawrence to 78 months and Vincent to 57 months. Vincent was also sentenced to 12 months on marijuana charges.

The investigation, Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force "Operation Two by Four," involved federal, state and local law enforcement agencies acting in a cooperative effort to dismantle this large scale marijuana distribution operation headed by the two.

Between 2001 and 2004, members of the Mitchell organization transported hundreds of pounds of marijuana across the U.S. - Canadian border, through the Akwesasne Mohawk Indian Reservation, to points within the United States.
