Improperly pasteurized milk warning |
||
New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker has alerted consumers that Evans Farmhouse Creamery, located at 5037 State Highway 23, Norwich, New York, is voluntarily recalling certain milk products due to improper pasteurization. Proper pasteurization heats milk in order to effectively eliminate all pathogenic bacteria, such as Listeria and Salmonella. The recalled milk products are sold under the names Evans Farmhouse All Natural Reduced Fat Cream on Top Not Homogenized Milk and Sunrise Family Farms Organic Reduced Fat Vitamin A & D Milk. These products have a container code of 5-11 and were distributed in New York State. Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Milk Control and Dairy Services Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the product was improperly pasteurized. No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this problem. |
