File may take time to start streaming on slower Internet connections

Albany – A state trooper assigned to the Coxsackie barracks of Troop F has been shot and killed by a suspect, who was wanted in connection with the shooting of another state trooper on Tuesday.  The suspect is now believed dead, in a fire that consumed the Delaware County house where he apparently was hiding.

Trooper David Brinkerhoff, 29, an 8½ year veteran of the State Police, was fatally wounded. He was assigned to the Coxsackie Barracks of Troop F.
Brinkerhoff is survived by his wife, Barbara, and their seven-month-old daughter.

Trooper Richard Mattson, who is assigned to the Troop K Stormville Barracks, was shot. He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

The two troopers, members of the Mobile Response Team, were searching for Travis Trim, a suspect involved in the Tuesday wounding of another trooper, Matthew Bombosi.

At about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, Troopers Brinkerhoff and Mattson were searching a premise on Cemetery Road in the Town of Margaretville when they were shot.

Police are not confirming that the badly charred body found late yesterday in burned remains of the house is Travis Trim, the suspect involved in the shooting.
