Trademark counterfeit arrest made

Suffolk County Police have arrested a Queens woman for possessing a large quantity of counterfeit merchandise on Main Street in Holbrook.

A police officer spotted a car parked in a handicapped zone without the proper permit displayed in the window. While the officer was checking the car’s identification, the owner of the vehicle, Xue Cai Ma, 37, of flushing, came walking along the street. Xue Cai Ma spotted the officer near her car, ran into a nearby beauty salon and tried to flee out the back door.

When the officer brought the woman back to her car, he uncovered numerous plastic bags containing counterfeit handbags, sunglasses, jewelry, ties, wallets and other items from a number of manufacturers with names including Gucci, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Fendi, Coach, Kate Spade and North Face.

A large amount counterfeit DVD movies, some of which are currently playing in the theaters, were also found in the car.

Over $100,000 in trademarked merchandise was recovered from the vehicle.

She was charged with attempted trademark counterfeiting in the first degree and failure to disclose the origin of a recording in the first degree.
