In Utica, NY the Adirondack Scenic Railroad hosts the Polar Express Train Ride each year to bring the holiday cheer into local families lives. The Polar Express Train Ride is based on the popular book by author Chris Van Allsburg and read allowed during the train ride. This year the Railroad sold over 19,000 tickets which has been the best and biggest season yet. Due to such high ticket sales, the Railroad extended the Polar Express Ride by two days in December.
“The Polar Express Train Ride has become a holiday tradition for so many families it was a no-brainer for us to extend the event by two additional days,” said Bethan Maher, Executive Director of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Before boarding the train, families can partake in different activities from coloring, to writing letters to Santa himself.
However, this train ride is not just beneficial to bringing the spirit of Christmas to life, it also has been proven to be extremely impactful to the local economy. People travel from near and far to take a ride on the Polar Express Train Ride and because of this local gas stations, restaurants, and hotels have an influx of guests during the holiday season.
The Polar Express departs Union Station every Thursday at 6:30pm and Friday through Sunday at 4:30pm & 7pm. For more information on the Adirondack Scenic Railroads Polar Express Train Ride visit www.AdirondackRR.com.
