BUFFALO BUYS OLD FEDERAL COURTHOUSE FOR ONE DOLLAR

By TEMPLE LI

The Buffalo City Council has authorized its mayor, Byron Brown, to “purchase” an empty courthouse for the city. Why is this news?

Because the city is getting the building for $1?

Because the city is “purchasing” it for $1 from the U. S. General Services Administration?

Because the common person probably couldn’t buy it for $1?

Because the common person probably has never heard of the U. S. General Services Administration nor knows what its function is.

Or maybe just because this is a good deal for the City of Buffalo and its residents. And no one else wanted the elderly federal courthouse – even for a buck.
