The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Abatement Workers, Local Union #12A, will conduct a recruitment from June 16, 2016 through June 16, 2017 for 50 hazardous materials removal worker apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.
Please note that the 50 openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for two recruitment regions – the Long Island and New York City regions.
Applications must be completed and returned in person at Local Union #12A, 15-32 127th Street, College Point, NY, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on the following days: June 16, 2016; June 17, 2016; September 15, 2016; September 16, 2016; December 15, 2016; December 16, 2016; March 16, 2017; March 17, 2017; June 15, 2017; and June 16, 2017. Applications must be received no later than 06/16/17.
Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
