On Thursday, April 21, deputies observed a suspicious Nissan Pathfinder SUV driving through a parking lot at Mendon Ponds Park and began following it. Other deputies responded to the parking lot and found two vehicles with broken windows. Deputies eventually stopped the driver off the Nissan Pathfinder and identified him as James Cooper, dob 2-11-62. During the traffic stop deputies observed purses, wallets and other items on the front passenger seat of the suspect’s vehicle. Deputies located the owners of the two vehicles who positively identified their items in the suspect’s vehicle.
Investigators believe Cooper may be responsible for other vehicle larcenies in the area. That investigation is ongoing. Cooper is scheduled to appear in Mendon Town Court on April 26, at 5:30pm.
